Synthetic Pot Suspected as Cause of Teens’ Heart Attacks

Over and over again, Kush and I have been extremely explicit with the fact that we aren’t advocates of synthetic pot, or spice, or whatever you want to call it. We’re both advocates of it’s ban, and we both believe that it is stupid as hell to do, which is why I bring you this article.

How often is it that 3 people have heart attacks? How often is it that those 3 people are sixteen-year-olds? Pretty rarely. So when three sixteen-year-old boys suffered from heart attacks in the past few weeks, it’s only expected that the cases get investigated. And what’s believed to be the culprit? Synthetic Marijuana.

Although it can’t be proven that the synthetic cannabinoids are responsible, it’s highly expected. 16-year-olds should not be prone to heart attacks, and all three of the boys admitted to smoking “spice” within a couple weeks of the heart attacks.

Dr. Colin Kane, a pediatric cardiologist in Dallas who saw the three 16-year-olds admitted with chest pain last fall. Dr. Kane administered EKGs and blood tests, which confirmed the boys had suffered heart attacks.

Kane acknowledges that it cannot be proven that synthetic marijuana caused the heart attacks – the teens could have used other drugs, including steroids, and lied about it. However, Kane suspects the K2 caused arteries that bring blood to the heart to spasm, which could cut off blood supply and cause a heart attack.

One of the key reasons that the synthetic cannabinoids are suspected, is because the products they’re created for are unregulated, there is no telling what other substances may be involved in the production, therefore no one really knows what they are consuming.

Look guys, we’re not your parents, we can’t be telling you what to do and what not to do and expect you to adhere to all our commands. But please, try and steer away from this synthetic shit. It’s not doing any good for anyone.

mefatherwuzatree asked: I'm really glad you guys are back, I really am. But I don't really think it's fair what you have written on the front page about Chronic. She might not have run the site the same way you (Kush) did, but that's because you resigned from the blog and handed control of the blog over to her. I don't think it's fair to say she ran it into the ground, especially since you didn't even tell your loyal followers such as myself why you were not going to be posting anymore. At least she kept posting.

We all left the blog because Chronic was less concerned with educating about Marijuana and more concerned with promoting hard drug use, posting pretty pictures of weed and talking about her personal life.  She advocated a type of pothead persona that we’re against, and that makes the movement look like a joke and us a bunch of idiots.

On one occasion, she advocated smuggling weed onto an airplane and explained how to do so.  We left because we had no other choice.  We did not want to be associated with that kind of immaturity and ignorance.  At that point, she had gained so many followers who shared the same mindset that Myself and the other writers were being critized for doing what we did best, informing.

I apologize from the depths of my heart if you or any other loyal followers feel jaded by our leaving but it was something that had to be done and honestly, we were fed up with what it all had become.

So no, I will not retract what I’ve said about Chronic, it is my firm opinion that she only perpetuates an incredibly negative stereotype of a pot-head.  I don’t know that Ganja shares this opinion but it is mine and I do not apologize for it.

Anonymous asked: Hey guys, I think you missed a few zeros, cause tobacco definitely causes a slightly more whopping near 500,000 deaths a year ;)

That number was for cigarette smoking alone, in the US.

If you can find a more accurate number though, please pass it on.

Thanks!

*Edit - I see what you mean now, I wrote 5,000…. my bad.

Because we say so

I want to start things off by discussing something that happened a few weeks ago. As I’m sure some of you know, there was a petition to legalize Marijuana on Whitehouse.gov.  The petition was an outcry from the public for discussion.  Even though Marijuana legalization is one of the key issues that should be discussed, it seems that the Government wants to ignore it.  They want to send anyone with a roach to prison for 2 years, but they refuse to have a serious discussion on it.  The main idea is that if we legalize Marijuana and then tax and regulate it in a manner similar to tobacco or alcohol, crime will decrease and there is the possibility of it pulling us out of this recession we’re currently in. Among many other benefits.

The petition met the needed 25,000 signatures within the first few days.  It was incredible really, how quick people were to support the petition.  Some might, even say it was common sense to do so.  By the time the petition closed, 74,169 people had signed it.  And then we waited for our discussion.  We waited for the chance to argue our case and hear their side.

Then we got our answer, which ended up being a big “Fuck You!”.  The representative from The White House went on to explain that there are too many negative medical effects from the use of Marijuana for legalization to be a possibility.

Wait, What?

Okay, there is so much wrong with this response.  Let’s take it step by step…

First off, Alcohol alone causes around 75,000 U.S. deaths a year.  Tobacco causes a whopping near 500,000 deaths a year.  Yet both of these are legal.

Guess how many deaths have been attributed to Marijuana consumption… ever? Go ahead, guess… I’ll wait..

..

..

..

If you guessed zero, you’re right on the money.

That aside, try to find one legitimate medical study that shows a link between Marijuana use and the deterioration of health. In fact, there have been multiple studies that show that Marijuana may be a possible cure for cancer (thanks CJ) NORML wrote an article about this issue as well.  In their article they pointed out a whole lot of studies to back this up.  Here’s the link if you’re interested in reading up on those.

Basically, the boys upstairs want to keep Marijuana illegial because it’s good for business.  Between the legal system, the lumber industry and just about any other lobbying industry who is against Marijuana and Hemp, they’re poking us in the chest and saying “What’re you going to do about it, pipsqueak?”

Well, I think they underestimate our generation.  This movement has been growing stronger and stronger over the years and our generation is finally starting to take notice to the issues we face.  You can’t just screw the people over and tell them things are how they are “Because we say so.”  There will be a day when we triumph in our fight.  Why, you ask?  Because it’s just common sense.

An Open Letter to Our Readers:

Good evening Marijuana Enthusiasts,

We have decided to return to the world of writing about Marijuana.  It’s been a long time coming and we’ve missed the hell out of this.

For those of you who followed us on Welovemarijuana, we hope to give you a better, more informational blog than we did in the past.  Ganja and I have been planning a comeback for a while now.  We want to be able to provide you people with a good, reliable source of education about Marijuana and all things related. Try not to think of this as a Stoner blog, or us as Pot-Heads, but as a very much needed educational source and us as Legalization Activists intent on bringing truth to the surface.

We plan on bringing this blog into 2012 with a bang, and we’ll do our best to keep a steady posting schedule.  And as always, we hope to entertain and inform.

With love and respect,
Kush & Ganja
